Guess who thought wont bother putting his goggles on just to grind this tiny little bit down just his normal specs?
Guess who spent 2 hrs in brighton eye clinic this morning(in massive pain) with a doctor going tut tut tut?
Guess whos lost a days work tomorrow coz he cant drive due to an eye not well ?
Guess whos now going before you lot kick my backside?

been there twice pulled one out myself with tweezers and magnifying glass to see it, i dont risk it anymore while those people at a&e do an excellent job i just dont want to see them

Hope it is not too bad now.
To be honest though, who hasnt cut the corner, and dodged the 'bullet' once too often, complacency is an accidents best buddy, and keeps the NHS A&E departments in business.
There you go if you want to save your A&E department, have more accidents!!!

I was caught out in spite of taking all the precautions - I got some grit in my eye as I took my blasting helmet off - now I close my eyes before removing the helmet.

I recently bought a full face clear visor thing - from a link on a post on here...
Used it a couple of times and am much happier !

Good news on the eyesight front though, had the potential to be much more serious.

Glad to hear you're OK, the only good thing about this sort of post is that it encourages me to wear the safety gear.

Unfortunately in a month or so I know I'll start getting lazy again and won't bother for the odd quick job but by then they'll probably be another post about somebody else's accident - possibly mine !!

At least there is no lasting damage there (well apart from pride), and an important lesson learnt.

My mate got something in his eye the other day, we were grinding the rust off a landrover series 3 chassis at the time, he was only wearing those safety specs at the time, worried me big time.

Went out the following day and kitted us out with the proper stuff, as diyer you never think the cost is justified, but id rather spend £100 on ppe than loose part on my body :-)

Thanks guys for your concern,yes its getting much better now the stuff the eye shop gave me works wonders,bit like axle grease but boy does it sooth the pain.
My other half took the photo late last night,as you see i had to hold it open bit got me right near the tear duct,got to go back on monday,doc said he needs to SCRAPE the rest of the rust off thats imbedded(brown pants time)

Sorry to ramble on more,i normally wear those goggles like big hard plastic ones that i can slip over my specs,trouble is when taking em off i pull my glasses off to,most annoying,as Coo said gonna now go for a full face monty,been looking at loads but 2 types of sheild polycarbonate or acertate which is ideal for general impact res use etc?

I use a full face visor when grinding &c and protect it with a piece polycarbonate cut from an old drinks bottle, clear for general use and brown from a cider bottle for plasma cutting.

Having a rust ring removed is not that bad, the procedure is entirely painless but it will be a bit sore when the anesthetic wears off,
For a faceshield go for a polycarbonate one, I have one that wraps all round the face and curves under the chin, I think its called a protector.

Glad your ok, scraping isn't to bad it's when he gets the dremmel out to gouge the particles out. the Axle grease stuff is really good though

who u kidding i had one removed was on a hard leather pillow and they brought the dentists drill out with a cutter in it and started . the drops hadnt worked . it made me ill looking at it and i couldnt move . so next time anyone gets anything in there eye just think about it before u do
