We have an Orek. Second one after first lasted over 20 years and only changed because it needed a new bottom plate after original wore away. All parts available at reasonable prices but decided to buy another instead of repair.

Mate always raved about his Sebo vacuum until he bought a cheap Shark for his mother and found it was far superior - and half the price. The Sebo is now relegated to the garage and he bought a Shark for himself !

I always change the batteries when that happens if the machine is otherwise still in GWO.

the thing to research re cordless is, how long before battery performance drops off and when it does will performance suffer as well as run time

Did you see in the news a few months ago about the woman in Korea who had to be rescued after being attacked by her vacuum ?
It was an automatic robot vac programmed to come out of it's docking bay at certain times and she was sleeping on a traditional floor bed when it sucked up her long hair

Buy the Athlet if you want a cordless, I've got one for both grandparents because they struggle pushing a full cylinder around and tend to trip over the cords anyway, well built, very light and easy to push around, and if you put it on turbo mode it'll pick the carpet up - never really needs it, lasts a good 20-30 minutes before it begins to drop off performance.
Make sure you get the right one though as there's two very similar ones and one has much less power. I did a lot of research at the time and that was the best option without spending 3x the money.

last time i looks they had problems with dieing just out of warranty

We have used a Henry for years and find it excellent for general use. If you already have Makita 18V Li-ion tools, the Makita DCL180Z cordless vac works well and has good suction. Both vacuums complement each other.

mum and dad have a g-tech cordless and they are 85 year old OCD cleaners, they tell me its excellent.

This is what weve got, got led headlights

likewise. far, far superior to a Dyson and cheaper aswell. We got ours direct from the importers and got the free steam mop thingy with it. £219.99 all in.

we have the g-tech multi and air ram both very good, we got the pet model (4 dogs) binned the dyson and now have hair free floors, brilliant on the carpets, the multi is fantastic for the stairs, and they last a fair few uses on one charge.

I bought a GTech AirRam for my mum as the Miele upright was getting to heavy for her. Two years later its as good as new, mums well pleased with it.
