So earlier this week I generously got a donation of this this track saw amongst a fair bit of gear a gent was trying get cleared from a rented single garage sharpish as his lease was up.
Turned out to be a lovely fella and has similar afflications to many of us on here
Today I had a job that necessitated it being pressed in to service....
I placed it on the bench ..interestingly its fitted with an american 110 plug (quite how this made it to a garage in Ilford is anyones guess)
When i got it Grizzly did make me think of the American firm, it does indeed turn out to be them !
So first job replace the plug for a well worn 110v
Plug it into the transformer and we have lift off ..happy days
I go to set the blade depth only to find the locking screw missing ..bugger
No problems, I suspect its UNC and have plenty of fixings that can be made to work
So strip it down get the guide off and in the process have to remove the blade ..the screw that hold that in conviently
fits fixing on the blade guide ..get the thread gauge out and it's 20 threads on 5/16 making it UNS
I consult the tap and die odd section but come up dry
The only course of action clean the lathe down give it an oil up and throw some stainless stock in the chuck
Cut the required thread and create some shabbyish looking knurling
Put all back together and it works perrfectly
