Grinding cabinet similar to blasting cabinet?

I do lots of grinding - hours of it per week. Is there a type cabinet for grinding similar to a sand blasting cabinet that is sealed with a window to look into and gloves and sleeves to put your hands in to do the work? Thanks

what are you grinding to need something like that type of unit

i can to a degree say yes its fine to use if your grinding something flat or to flatten it but if your cutting that sort of unit is no good

just so you are aware grinding something in there and that grinder gets away from you its going to bounce for fun inside of it until you unplug it

also to note the first thing that you will do is try to second grab the grinder which is the worst thing that you could do

I'm grinding the top 2mm off rail track. No cutting. And if the grinder gets away from me, then I'll just have to hope my common sense kicks in and I don't try to grab it. I don't think I have ever tried to grab a run away grinder before actually. Thanks.

You would be better off having a dedicated area for grinding and putting up some welding curtains to contain the sparks.
Trying to grind inside a cabinet sounds like a recipe for disaster its inconvenient enough using them as shotblasters - you want good control of a grinder at all times.

I don't think you could pay me to spend all week grinding railway track. Is it actually worth it?

id want a big angle grinder to be doing that .cant see it happening holding the grinder in one hand and the handle in the other in a cabinet. even a 4 inch one

That's the sort of thing we had in college when I was doing a welding course a few years ago

I once saw an open fronted cabinet with a waterfall at the back and, presumably so e extraction too at a stone/masonry place. It was very effective at dragging all traces of debris out of the air as the chap holding a grinder smoothed some bits of slate. You probably wouldn't want the waterfall working with steel though and I guess the price might be a bit more than just doing it outdoors.

I use a big cardboard box to catch most of my grinding sparks / dust, works well. You could link a garage vac to it if you want a low pressure area.
