Hullo again guys!
Dont want to hit and run with my thread so i thought id let you know what i have done.
Hopefully you will approve!
Ive won a butters autoweld 160 on ebay, it has all the features i actually want (spot, stitch and weld @ 240v) now that i got inverters firmly out of the frame. Ill buy a parweld xti160 for all that.
Looking forwards to getting my hands on it.
Only worry is I hope itll be beefy enough for bigger welds. Althought i can always chamfer the bejesus out of things.
I think im most pleased. Keen to know your thoughts

dont worry about it being strong enough for bigger welds...if its too much for a 160 amp mig then thats where the 160 amp sticck welder comes in.

ive just taken ownership of a CWS inverter mig today...i was surprised at what it would do when cranked up a bit...the stick welder may be getting less use thatn i though...

I must admit they were on my shortlist, but i got jittery on inverters as they are new tech.
I do hear they are soooooo smooth tho.
and then as if by magic this butters popped up so i threw a cheeky offer in and to my suprise he accepted. Just kept to my budget once equipment is added. (if you completely ignore the gas, lalalala im not listening sorta thing.)

hardly new tech, just new to the welding scene at such a low price... Modern electronics are a lot more robust than people think...i kicked hell out of my first parweld inverter, used it in the rain, left it in the box damp, dragged it around by its torch lead when trying to get in position...never stopped working as it should...the only reason im on my second one is the first got nicked

Ah gutted, i would have loved a parweld but they are mega bucks and the mrs would kill me!
The thermal arc units were nice too, and theres some guys near me IFL i think that all have good reviews but with equipment on top i couldnt quite muster the courage to go that high and buy the wrong thing the eastwood had me going for a while too.
