Invariably all that will happen is the cost of any job in that area will go up by £10 or trades people won't go to the area and the only ones in the area will be able to charge what ever they want.

They had a referen dum about ten years or so ago - If you don't vote for a congestion charge inside the M60, you will not get the Tramway system. We all told them, by some margin, to get stuffed. Guess what? We still got the trams, massive bluff. Now they have all jumped on it, all the little local Labour contrlled councils, the big fear is, it is spreading way beyond it's intent and looking more and more like a vehicle tax. Gotta do something, parking revenue is way down and the town centres are dying. I will not mention the narcissistic mayor.

Fortunately bought a VW T6 early this year, Euro 6 so ok. As i live in GMC and this covers the area not City Centre, it would have cost a fortune in an older van. I believe it will be watered down enough to get through then two years later increase a little more so that as 2030 approaches it will be electric only inside the M60.

Deregulated Parking, changing roundabouts into traffic-lights, playing with light phases to create traffic hot spots, congestion zone, ULEZ, closure of rat runs and now modifying the Highway into single lanes: They’re taking all the fun out of driving!
Never knew of the ULEZ was now capturing cars until I was fined driving ONE STREET inside the zone whilst attending a PIP interview; My crime - Using a planet killing 1.2 Vauxhall Nova from '88.
With the expansion due in October the only two options left to me are to now try to sell if I can after 14 years ownership, or perversely, TFL will 'gift' me £2k to scrap it. Bonkers!!!!!
There seems no facility to make any changes to the engine which would allow compliance: unless I opt for an *electric conversion.

We never even drive into Huddersfield Town because of the council hating car owners preferring cyclists hence closing roads to vehicles; there are plenty of pallets available for boarding up shop fronts. The nearest we go is the ring road and even this is too near for comfort.

Understandable really, the only positive for them (from an emissions POV) is there are so few of them so they're not a big contributor. They'll be exempt from the charge in Manchester.

Well said MattF; I couldn't agree with you more. There is another good thing about Huddersfield town center; no charges for vans or cars because the council are closing roads allowing only cyclists to use them; a short while ago the lunatics were in charge of the asylum saying they were closing more roads one being the extremely busy "Firth Street". I'm unsure if trailers are allowed attached to cycles because twenty bags of aggregate will take a bit of balancing on a cycle cross bar; even more idiotic are the "bus gates".

The bus gates remain as far as I'm aware but I believe there's been trouble regarding road closures; rather than embracing cars and making motorists welcome the council are doing their utmost to create a ghost town frequented by criminals and cyclists; the're succeeding too. We never ever go into town too scared of being fined due to owning and having the cheek to enter by car.

though i presume you havent noticed but that manchester zone also includes the m62 motorway as well

so any vehicle passing over the m62 for cross country might also get a fine as well

Our air is cleaner now than at any time since the start of the industrial revolution.
Drive behind a classic car and you will realise how bad it must have been in the 70s and 80s before catalysts became common.
I am extremely sensitive to particulates and get an asthma type response from older diesels. The new ones are about as clean as you can get.

People wonder why manufacturing is dead in the UK. All these green taxes are making us less and less competitive. The electricity costs are rising and rising to pay for all this nonsense.

Home deliveries are now the norm - so they want to charge the lorries an extra £60 a day to deliver to the shops pushing the costs higher.

They have ALL gone mad!
