As others have said, I’d definitely recommend any VAG with a PD engine. Ive had a few now and all got to well over 200k With minimum trouble.
(I currently have a T5 on 197000)

Bangernomics! Buy something with a year's MOT for cheap, run it for the 12 months and if it passes another...bonus!! If not, rinse and repeat.

And fit the biggest battery you can.

Did that years ago when I first started driving. That's how I learned my spannering. Changed umteen clutches, engines, gearboxes. I'm not fit enough to do that now. Just want something that I can get in and go.
