Granite Work top Polish reccomendations?

What would you recommend i.e. you have used?

im not a fan of granite work top otherhallf mate had new put in and cut some food on it scrached the surface she thought it was just marks from cutting on there and used a washing up sponge with the ruff pad on the back and made a half a foot dull mark on the surface she this was the 2nd day after it was installed she rung the company that installed it they said yes granite is very hard to cut but easy to mark with knifes and scowering pads

the company did replace the worktop but still charged them the cost of the granite but not fitting fee that was in the later hundreds

We used a damp cloth...

For marks, its 1200 wet and dry, jewlers rouge, and a reet good polish, to get the shine back.

When ours was fitted in the last house, they had to cut the cill as it was too long. It was cut with a angle grinder and stone blade. Then polished same as you would after bodging your car, starting with coarse, then down to 1600, and polished.

Wet & dry, working through the grades to 5k, then finish off with Farecla G3 compound, worked either by hand or DA machine.

This sort of thing. The more you spend the better the quality. Probably ok for a one off.

Diamond polishing pads.... The cheap kits on ebay are perfect for occasional use

Bar Keepers friend.

It's a bit like Ajax, only not as coarse. You put some a damp sponge,form a paste and clean away. Replenish as required.



Wipe off residue with a clean dry cloth and hey presto, sparkling worktops. Repeat every X weeks according to how messy things get in the kitchen.

Buy her a chopping board. Why would you attack a brand new worktop with a knife.

Consider herself lucky they covered the granite.

I'm thinking they actual miss sold it the guy when selling it hard to damage nice for life she now moved house and put standard work top in the kitchen and said once it gets damaged I can replace 5 times

Timber all the way for me. Or maybe polished concrete. Been toying with that idea for a while.

Can't stand laminate. Not a fan of granite or corrian

Its more the finishing polish I'm after , the surface is smooth, when its wet it goes deep black, but dries a lot lighter, I have tried the stone sealer but didn't make any difference so looking at polishes, like wax or something else.
