I need a daihatsu fourtrak cutting up it is a total scraper, an ex donor it is filing a old building and i want the cash off the scrap too. can i use gouging rods to cut this old truck up?
Or will arc air rods do the same job.?
I got 2 arc welders a old oil cooled oxford to 180 amp and a sip air coled 140 a very old blue thing it is. is it practical to use these arc welders to cut up the truck and are the rods expensive? say compared to normal rods of like 2.5mm

well i supose it will be but, i had the idea just because i had the welders and thought i would use what i have myself, and mabe learn as well how to cut with them. never done this before. It has to be practical though.

I think the smalles gouging rods are 5/32 or 1/8" (3.2mm). I seem to remember my Airco manual mentioned they take 230-250 amps and are DC.

Wonder if you can rent a plasma cutter. If not, a big saw or O/A would be the best bet.

180 amp>6013 3.2mm rods> 25 degs slope>and push the rod away from you....(thick gloves required).....

ive never tried this , but if you dip your rods in water and high amps you can cut with them , so ive heard !

carbon air arc requires a fair bit of air and is heaps of fun, gouge rods need in excess of 200 amps min as was said before, and i not sure if same quality finish, quickest way to part it up i'd think would be socket set and case of beer or oxy acet. and beer, haven't ever tried thermic lance, would like to,
