Your school had a ceiling? Luxury! Ours was made of some kind of straw bales.

When I was an apprentice, there was a time-served chap who perpetually had the hump about everything.
Another fella let me in on his secret.....
...he never wore a lab coat or overall until he had an accident with a leadscrew.
He used to wear baggy pullovers - nobody knew why - then, one day while leaning over the lathe to get a better look at the work (I can't remember the lathe make, but it was about a 10" swing) his stupid baggy pullover got caught up in the leadscrew somewhere and in it went. This was in the days of machines being in rows, and the chap on the machine behind him saw something was up had to run round and knock off the lathe before his knackers got any closer.
Hence - no loose clothing, beware of cuffs, stay alert, your nation needs lerts.
