The mixing ratio is 4:1 epoxy primer:epoxy hardener. Then 25% epoxy thinner. It’s HB body 989. I just mixed up 2 batches of this stuff. I messed both up completely.
The first batch I mixed up 100ml epoxy primer with 25ml hardener which is right. I then messed up buy adding 25ml thinner. I could have put the 125ml into an calculator then worked out 25% of that. The second batch I messed up even more. I meant to use 12.5ml hardener but forgot what I was doing.
I tipped 25ml thinner in then 25ml hardener. Then I tipped in 50ml paint. I’m a donut today. I now have just realised my mistakes. I’ve also just noticed that I could have just used the 4:1 + 25% markings on my mixing cup, that I didn’t spot.
First time I’ve used this stuff; can’t you tell. I’ve mixed 2k clear before, which I mix correctly by using the 2:1 + 10% on my cups.
Right, the way I see it now, from my experience with mixing body filler, is......
The first batch will cure ok, but will have been a bit of a pig to spray through my gun.
The second batch will be ok. It will just cure a bit faster/be a bit harder to sand because of the added hardener.
Ill be sanding most of this back off anyway and I will get my infra red lamp back on it again tomorrow to speed up the curing process a bit more as I know epoxy takes it’s time to cure without one.
Will my complete and utter ballsup matter in the long run?
