Yesterday i drove to birmingham to pick up a 90cm range cooker i won on ebay...the cooker was cheap as the top element had gone on one of the ovens, so before i got home from my 4 hour return trip i went straight to the appliance store and picked up the new element...Now this is where it gets interesting as after i took off the back panel including the connectors from the in-coming connection point for the 6mm i fitted the new element no problem and re-connected all the spades back to there same spots i took them off ...dragged it into the kitchen, connected the 6mm into the cooker socket and fitted the push fit gas pipe. All systems go and flick the power!!!! to be answed by the main fuse board RCD tripping and it done it 3 more times pull out the cooker,dis-connect the gas and 6mm and take off the back panel and sit looking into the swarth of wires and cables with a cup of tea for 10 mins and a further 20 mins with the multi meter checking all the runs...BINGO The person who sold the cooker had been the same person who dismantled the back panel to check which element had blown and was the same person who put it back together and not put the connectors on the correct spades..and me thinking it had,nt been messed with just put them back were i found them which was wrong Cooker now fitted and working great and todays lesson is iff and when you buy stuff thats broke, make sure the cok jocky before you has not been messing with it and put your health and wealth into question
