Good work socks that stay up

Socks are something I never payed attention to and always bought as cheap as possible and tried to put good money in my footwear but I've just realised socks make a big difference to my comfort.
With my cheap short socks my legs and feet always felt cold.
Now its winter I want socks that cover my calves to keep me warm but will stay up. It winds me up pulling socks up all day.
I bought one pair of darn tough but they are very expensive. Its also confusing they have that big a range of full cushion, half cushion etc.
Is merino wool socks best for work boots and staying warm.
Is their any good brands at better value that last and stay up

Having been given a pair years ago I continue to buy Falke ski or Skateboarding socks from Socks Fox. Not cheap but they last and last. They come up to just below the knee and are “handed” or should that be footed , left and right.

Use to use their gloves when I was kite bugging on the beach regularly.

Feet were always covered in woolly socks and gull yacht boots

I have had a few pairs of "fishermans wader socks" when they have them. Pull right up to your knees and stay up, Good value.

Under Armour stuff is good for the price. Not marketed as work wear particularly but comfy, warm and long lasting.

Having said that, i often wear ski socks at this time of year!

Used to buy wool mix ski socks from a local market that were brill but as with any woolen socks after a while they lose their elasticity from repeated washing & don't stay up.
Currently using dickies boot socks which are quite good. Wearing long johns stops the socks sliding down as much.

Yep thats how I do it.
I was lucky an aged aunt took up walking and from then on the christamas M&S thinnest
socks were replaced by warm walking boot socks. They have double layer soles but they
seemed to wear out as quick as the marsk&sparks thinnniest socks.

pull em up and they stop just below one’s knee all day long…..

First pair on then lined Tracksuit bottoms then the other two pairs over them so they're tucked in (fabric on fabric keeps them up, more friction) . Then trousers over the top
T shirt, sweater, fleece, coat. Does up top.

Wooly hat.

Bit of a minefield to be honest, daily I wear Duchamp socks which come in some funky designs, If I am wearing dress shoes though I wear Pantharella silk/cotton mix made in Leicester and I believe to be the very best in the world For out in the field though Falke are excellent and the very best combination are a pair of silk/cotton mix then a pair of Falke on top, just last year I started to use Danish Endurance bamboo socks and they are a very god combination of value for money and functionality.

No I am not a clothes snob but I bought the very cheapest (both price and quality) for many, many years while I fed and clothed my family, now I buy the very best (if I can) and my family all consider me to be the go to person when it comes to clothing. If I think it is crap I will say so but I usually consider clothing purchases very, very carefully.
