6point will catch more of the flat of the bolt . I agree with 6point being better at times but both have there use and me I’d rather 12point as a starter as I find them more useful but I have both so it’s down to the jobI would have thought 12 point sockets would spin less than 6 point sockets... is that wrong?
They may fit on 90% of nuts but one from just about any other manufacturer will fit on 99% of nuts so they're a bit useless if you need a thinner set around anyway. They do look nice and feel good in the hand but they're just not for me. Can't speak for their sockets.
Have a look at Bahco socket sets. These are really good and cheap through amazon. S240 and S330 sets will give you all the sockets you’ll need for £80
Halfords Pro range. The warranty is good and they'll replace like for like at any of their shops should they break.
Ive got their 200 odd piece set and it gets used a lot with my disco. No complaints.
I’ve been looking at sockets online but reviews seem so mixed. Wera look nice but I’ve heard they’re just dressed up Chinese gear? Anyone had any experience with Kincrome? They feel nice in the shop but no experience on the day-to-day. I’m doing a motor mechanics course and ideally I’d like to buy a set which could take me through an apprenticeship too.
if you have decent fine tooth ratchets you never need the "extra positioning" IMHO. You are correct though... there's a place for every tool.
Does Halfords exist down there? Their Advanced range are decent but obviously no good if you can't get them.
