Irreplaceable men ?
Graveyards are full of 'em.....
Graveyards are full of 'em.....
I was replaced with a Malaysian teenager, with a degree in something or other. He had no idea what a ring spanner was, had never done anything vaguely mechanical in his life, yet he replaced me, and my 24 years experience working offshore. Oh, and for a third of the salary, which was the real important part for the company I assume.Irreplaceable men ?

As I reach the dusk of my working career, and soon to be hanging up my boots for good. I remember my first day of work at the tender age of 16, about to start my 4 year apprenticeship, feeling a bit like "whats it all about?" I always found the world of work a mystery when it came to other employees. Fast forward 40 years and Ive had enough of it all, the work............. and the people![]()
Those people are probably bullies, in any situation when they feel they can be. I’ve worked with some people who just feel the need to be obnoxious at any opportunity they can get, it must make them feel superior or ‘hard’.As I reach the dusk of my working career, and soon to be hanging up my boots for good. Ive never quite understood why people give each other a hard time when in work? We are all there for the same thing, earn a crust, pay our way, support the family and try and save something for a rainy day. Like most on here Ive come across some right boneheads in my years of work, but still cannot fathom what drives them or why they behave the way they do. I'll not miss the majority of them, some of the worst ones I remember have thankfully moved into the afterlifeTreat people how they treated me was my philosophy......
The company I worked offshore with closed down 2 years after I got laid off. They had gotten rid of so many experienced long term employees it’s a wonder their ships could even operating properly.I worked for one a few years ago, he took over as director when the original boss sold up and left, he's almost succeeded in running the company into the ground over the four years since I left![]()
