Good quality alternators?.

Hello all.

Another Mk7 Transit, thime it's wife's camper van.

Alternator has decided Die the day before its MOT.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable brand for a replacement Alternator?.

There's so much crap out there now.

Is Lucas still a good brand or have they turned into chinesium?.

Was looking for a 210am for some headroom.

My alternator on a Mk6 Tranny failed & I had it repaired locally for about £35 from what I recall. If the Mk7 is the same as a Mk6, the regulators fail. You don’t say where you are, but mine was done by a place in Gloucester, done while I waited.

Don’t think Lucas are what they were, I was told the brand is now owned by ECP, don’t know how true that is. I’ve had Bosch units fail in short time , in fact they didn’t last as long as some cheaper units. I would suggest asking your local motor factors if they sell any with an extended warranty? The alternator on my kit car failed last year , I repaired it with a kit I got online
