I had seen that boxford model and thought it looked like a good buy, think I’ll message and arrange a viewing.
What should I be looking for when viewing? Usual wear points and issues etc.
Check the back gear, they often get chipped teeth, because people put them in back gear to get the chuck off, fixable, Lathes.co.uk will repair them,
Check the clutch works on the carriage,
Gearbox works
Check the belts, people just replace with the clip together ones, as the proper ones means stripping the headstock to fit
General wear and tear, noisy head bearings etc,
Wear in the cross slide screw an nut, giving large backlash
Damage from school kids,
Bonus if you get the 100/127 gears to enable metric screwcutting as well,
They have not usually had a hard life, but bear in mind they were made in the 1950’s
