Going back to: Keeping warm at work

Fitting a boiler today, the elderly customer has several fan heaters on and the living room is at sauna levels, I'm in the kitchen with the back door wide open in my t shirt. Walking into the lounge nearly knocks me out

Like that at work. I have to go outside occasionally as I'm boiling up inside. Can always tell when a trip outside is absolutely necessary, when I start feeling light-headed. This is my current accomodation, (workshop), temperature. Hitting 10° is balmy, IMHO.

Feet wise, I use Oxford 'biker socks. £15 a pair mind! There are electrically heated socks on the market if you can afford them, but the reviews are not great.

Waaay back when I was a sprog, you used to be able to buy ex-MOD pilots flying boot inserts, which were wired for plugging into the aircraft's power system.

I had a pair as slippers, but sadly no power source to keep my tootsies cozy.

You're not the only one - I have terrible circulation in my hands so if I'm not wearing 3-4 layers out there at the minute I can't actually do any work because my fingers go blue and won't move.

Long sleeve thermal top, t-shirt, fleece and a light hoody (got enough holes in the left sleeve that it might as well not be there mind) and one of those neck buff thingies.
Longjohns and my normal work trousers. Standard socks and some thicker than normal ones on top (I always wear two pairs with boots all year round) and then my Thinsulated Cofra safety boots. Not been too bad.
Oh this is our oil heater at work which helps:

My house is cold. We have no central heating and single glazing.

A mate brings in the KEY quilted overalls from Urmerica for me, haven't yet found anything better for keeping warm and dry while still being able to move. Also big enough in the leg to be able to pull them on without taking your boots off

I've been wearing my nice double-lined quilted race suit tonight in the workshop, wonderful it was

I was very glad of it when I had to push the car for half an hour too and keep dropping mats in front the next hour to keep it moving in the snow too!
