Landrover defender sound mats are silly money (over half a grand for the front footwells and seat box).
I've got loads of "natural rubber" stable matting places around, and I'm thinking I could get some of that, chop it up, and glue it to the footwell shapes etc.
I'm thinking a solid, heavy, rubber sheet has got to cut down the sound some, hasn't it? And the defender is, pretty much all, flat sheets, apart from the gear box tunnel.
Everything I look up says cyanoacrylate glue. Does this do something "special" with rubber, as, with everything else, it just sits on the surface, is brittle, and will crack off again.
I was hoping for more like a solvent weld sort of thing, that would actually bond the rubber, rather than just interface between it.
But maybe CA does something special with rubber?
Any ideas?
