Bought some wide fitting riggers boots off eBay. The heel started to separate from the boot. I contacted the seller and give them their due they offered a full refund etc. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. Held together with clear CT1 now and it's doing a grand job of holding.

It is a combination of clean surfaces, good glue and a fair amount of pressure application I find.

Pressure application, fnarr, yes, needs pressure in my books to glue properly.

Use selotape. Lots of tape wrapped tight.

Like this but dont waste vodka and somthing abit bigger to spread the glue. My bike boots lasting over a year of pre covid daily use, and climbing shoes several months at 15 hours a week

Used to sell a product called Stormsure. It works well on seat covers and boots, buy small tube as once opened it will go off.

Almost any Polyurethane glue will do but both surfaces have to be clean and buffed to a roughish surface use a clean wire brush. In a factory the pre glued soles and the upper are heated and then pressed under significant pressure so any clamping you can apply is good.

Take care using Nail Varnish Remover as it usually contains oils & glycerine as well as the acetone. You don't want to be adding any oil to something you are trying to glue!

A local cobbler told be that he often used cheap poundshop superglue to stick on soles. Recently I used Gorilla Glue to stick the soles of my mums boots & it worked very well. The soles were honeycombed inside & not a good flat surface for gluing but the pu glue expanded to fill the gaps. Once glued I clamped them up & left them for 24 hrs.

You know what, thunking about it a good degrease and scuff, and a tube of Sikaflex. Mask off the boot A good gob full and stand in the boot. Trim spew. Sorted

Sikaflex or Tiger seal will stick (almost) anything. Including windscreens. Allegedly. Always have a tube in the workshop.

I used to get about three shoe repairs a week when i was working in the school, no glue worked, but i kept several rolls of duct tape handy.
The kids faces when with a poker face i offered them a choice of grey, red or black was a picture!

I would sew it back on, drill the holes first with a small drill bit as you won't be able to push a needle through. Use the expensive glue which didn't work, to squirt in the holes to keep the rain out...

When did that happen ? I have a 125 ml square bottle of Copydex in front of me only had it about 14 months ....from a craft shop ......used some of it to stick a rubber mat back to the carpet it was moulded to

copydex factory used to make aluminium carpet gripper door strips and the wooden ones with pins in. gripperod were there main competition and bought them out and closed the factory near us think it was henkel took them over in the end yes they still make the glue under the name
