Glue for car badges/emblems.

My car has been debadged at some point in the past, then the badges re-attached with double sided foam.

Unfortunately, they are now coming loose, and I want to re-attach them permanently.

What's the best stuff to use?

A double sided tape which can be cut around I'm guessing?

Will the car paint need any prep? (Beyond a wipe with meths?)

Sikaflex or Tiger Seal, it can get messy though.

I bought some double sided tape from a local motor parts supplier, the grip is quite impressive

Moulding tape is a thin foam with adhesive on both sides which is generally how motor manufacturers fix badges in the factory. Refix tape is even thinner and is little more than a layer of adhesive which can be used to 'refix' badges and emblems where the original moulding tape is still present but just lost its stick!

The 3M stuff mentioned above was "OW MUCH!!!!", but for the sake of a fiver, I'll risk it being a chinese copy.

A good tip is the clean the area well, with a solvent to remove all wax, oils and other nasty's of the paint.

When we have to fit new warning stickers to the vans. We wash and dry with soapy water, then wipe down with a meths rag.

IPA is the solvent to use for removal or cleaning.

That's Iso Propyl Alcohol, not India Pale Ale for the congenitally obtuse.
