Glue advice

My snowboard boot has separated from its sole,is there a glue suitable to bond the two parts together again? As you can see from the underside,the lugs retaining it to the binding of the board hold it down firmly,requiring a very strong grip.

the sole fell off my safety trainers.used some gorilla glue on them clamped together for an hour they lasted a year before i wore them out . got another pair doing the same so il glue them as well

Cobblers glue is a good option, its a strong contact cement. Apply to both parts, let the solvents flash off for few minutes whilst warming them up under a lamp to about 80c. Press the two parts together solidly for 24 hours.

When I resole my climbing shoes, I have a wooden form to go inside and I wrap the whole item in selotape until the glue sets.

Note that if you use any thicker/gap filling type glues, be careful that you dont get a lump of glue form in an uncomfotable place! Done that before.

Another option that I use is permenent rubber adhesive containing isocyantes. I use the old Wilko branded one but its also sold as neoprene repair glue. It is very strong whilst fully flexible, slightly more expensive.

Epoxy is good for some things but generally brittle, I dont think a flexible epoxy would work for a shoe - and its flex rather than glue strength, that makes a shoe fail.

I stuck my work boots(sole) back together with tigerseal, got a good few months out of them afterwards

I had no luck with gorilla glue when trying to bond EVA foam to a vibram rubber sole, appeared to stick to the rubber but not the foam. If that white part of the centre of the inside of the sole is a closed cell foam I would give gorilla glue a miss.

I sent the boots back to the manufacturer for a resole and they came back with the EVA foam replaced with what looks like natural rubber so I guess they had issues bonding it too.

I have had very good results with E6000 on my bike boots and wifeys walking boots.

A lot better than the local cobblers did.

coblers glue would be my first thought. failing that, sikaflex 221 seems to stick most things to most things...or theres the weather resistant on think its 552

I walked around with my DeWalt Bolster (crap) boots held together with CT1 for a couple of months. Filled in where the sole had separated from the boot and left to set for 36 hours.

I tried that a year or two ago with a pair of ordinary town shoes ( as opposed to working shoes) He quoted £5 more than a new pair of Clarks

I was going to say the same thing. Find a traditional independent cobbler not one of the big chains

I think I’ll find a cobbler,too much choice of glues could bewilder me,if it falls apart on the first day,I’m gonna lose at least a day in France searching for glue and clamps or a French cobbler plus the losss of a days lift pass money.
