the glow plug circuit on these are a bit peculiar they glow as normal then once the vehicle has started they have what's called after glow for anything up to a minute depending on alternator output or road speed
Is it not something like a sensor on the inlet manifold which controls that?
me wifes got a vauxhall corsa, its only starting on 3cyls in the morn, fine the rest of the day/evening.
so im assuming its a glow plug gone, now in not to good with elecs and testing them
is the a easy way to do a test to find out wich one is caput??
thanks.
One sure fire way is to take them out and connect them to a battery with some jump leads, it will be clear which one isn't working.
more like a timer relay i would thinkIs it not something like a sensor on the inlet manifold which controls that?
Years ago I had a similar problem and I didn't know much about diesel engines so I took it to a diesel specialist. It only took him 10 minutes to carry out the following procedure, one of the glow plugs needed replacing and that's all he charged me for.
Only do this if your 100% sure you know what you're doing or take it somewhere if you don't.
Unscrew all of the injectors or one at a time and pull them back so you can see into the cylinders, this is only possible if you have enough play on the pipework without causing damage, you must disconnect the electrical connections for each injector.
Don't disconnect the pipework as the fuel pressure supplying them can be extremely high and dangerous.
Put the ignition on and you can see the glowplugs glowing through the holes where the injectors screw in.
