Girder forks DIY

Sons busy building a bobber for a school project.
Its got me thinking, I have seen people build display bikes made from modern junk but look like a bike from the 20s.
So has any one any ideas how to make a set of girder forks?

I love the idea but the chance of finding a matching pair is slim, but you have me thinking.
Should have bought the gear box I saw at the weekend!

Make em out of tube, just make up a template out of a sheet of heavy ply or something, screw spiggots to it, for the hinge points axle etc and off you go two identical forks.

Or be a smart bottom and make it single sided

You could use a Stilton for the front wheel

a lot of bobbers use this style too, much easier to build imho

Those are leading link forks, usually fitted to bike and sidecar combinations along with car profile tyres to give better wear characteristics. A friend of mine has some on his Guzzi with special 15" rims and 135x15 tyres.

Leading link forks are in my opinion the ugliest front ends on any bike.

I just said seen a few done as easy to build. Usually with two rear shocks bolted on
