I havent Tig'ed in ages and had to quickly set it up as I need to do a new set of exhausts. I am the first to admit I am not that good but im more concerned with doing the job than 100% neat (well that my excuse for being a Pigeon Sh*t Welder)
0.8mm, Butt joint, 1.2mm Red cap tungstern, 8 Lpm, about 40'ish Amps, 0.8mm Mig Wire as filler.
And thats from a rubbish welder (as in me) on 0.8mm. The Welder (as in welder) is much better than my abilities.

whats with the colour?
Its just regular mild sheet steel from the motor factors and they always come with some kind of coating on them to stop it rusting, ive not cleaned anything, also heat despersion. Bearing in mind its 0.8mm and im quite high with the amps.

Cold rolled sheet sometimes comes with a lead/tin coating called terne for workability and preservation. It doesn't seem to affect the weld as it is microscopically thin like the copper on rods.

get yourself a foot switch (not just the on off type) an accelerator type
further you press down the more power you have, off for less gives you ultimate control
