Hi guys,
A complete newbie here.
Some years ago I bought an entry level arc welder, just to play with.
It is a bit hefty for a couple of jobs I want to do around the house, garage etc, so I recently bought the Mig.
As you will be aware, details are not very forthcoming, so I can't even set it up yet. I don't want to bugger it up before using it, so need some basic help please.
It came with a spring > adapter > fastening nut, and a small spool of steel wire.
1/ When looking on the internet, I have seen machines set with the wire feeding from the top of the spool, and others fed from the bottom of the spool. Which is correct ?
2/ I initially thought that the spring went on the spindle first, then the spool, then adapter and nut.
Whilst I'm still pretty sure that the spring goes on first, there is nothing on the spool to show where or how the adapter goes - which made me re-think about the spring !
After spending all my life in the building and civil engineer trades, I'm now a disabled pensioner, but need to keep my brain active, and my hands - they are about the only things working at present, hence my trying something else.
Obviously I need to set it up correctly before even asking about the technical stuff.
Thank you for reading this, & I hope someone has the time to help me.
all the best
