My Sealey compressor is normally left with the mains plug turned on and the red button pushed down when I have finished using it

The last couple of times I have used it I have switched it off by pushing the red button down and it latches ok but maybe a couple of hours later the compressor kicks in as the button has popped up and the air has leaked down to the top up level

Debating whether to replace the switch or call ghostbusters, searched but I could find any reference to this. Anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like the detent on the red button is worn.

If you happen to switch it off when the pressure is between the switch-on and switch-off points the toggle switch mechanism will keep the switch open, but because the red button hasn't detented properly it will switch back on when the pressure drops.

Is the switch cover fitted properly? If it's a bit loose the red button may not be pushing the toggle down far enough.

good call, I found the cover loose one day and the bottom of the hole that the screw holds the cover down was broken out so it now has a longer screw with a washer holding it down although it has been working like that for a while before it showed these symptoms

I remember seeing another cover on the shelves somewhere a while ago, now all I have to do is find it....
