Outrigger in, I don't think my mate got a good photo of when it was fully welded up because I was trying to push on with the next stage of the repairs to get everything closed up today.

Oh, and my favourite 4¼" grinder finally let the magic smoke out halfway through the day...

Fortunately I took at least 3 others with me, but I am sad about that one as it was the most comfortable corded grinder I had.

Will have to see if I can diagnose the fault and find spares, but I suspect that means the whole motor is kaput.

My mate has been finding and painting it today...

I think that photo illustrates exact what I meant by:

The last little bit of welding was very hard going

Managed to do a continuous seam 500mm long that went in smoothly and blended away with just a quick buzz of the flap disk...

Then the last 150mm took twice as long as the first bit, was mostly made up of repairing holes created by previous welds and resulted in me replacing a substantial amount of parent metal with a sunken mess that even ground back still has some unavoidable pinholing.

Oh well it's in now at least.
