getting some half nuts cast

I have never tried cutting bronze it will cut it but not sure about quality

The shock of paying for a sheet of bronze would finish you off so you would never know if it did cut ok

Why not set the pair up in a jig and bore them out. Pop some cross holes in them for a key then stick them in a sand casting box with a core and cast bronze back onto the half nut bodies, then re-cut the thread into them. Could even use Babbitt which would mean very low wear on the screw.

The originals are missing, Ive borrowed some to copy.

Have you looked at http://www.collegeengineering.co.uk/ They might even be able to do the casting if you provided a pattern

I have a fairly hefty chunk of what i seem to recall is PB sat somewhere at the my garage, must be at least 2" diameter from memory. I'll have to dig it out!
