Getting information from HMRC?

I am in need of some PAYE information from a previous employer; redundancy, P45/P60's etc however due to me winning a county court case against them they are being difficult.

I know there are legal options for this, and I am exploring them but they are likely to take the full 40 days, or even make me take it to court which will cost me.

As I just need the figures and not the paperwork, does anyone know if HMRC will be able to give it me over the phone?

My quick response is: How do they know who they are talking to over the phone, even supplying some basic id information such as DOB and NI No could be done by someone else.

I doubt it would be as easy as that to get personal details.

I can pass security as they won't even talk to you without it, I'm registered as self employed too and that helps with my utr etc

However the reason I'm asking is the phone system makes me suicidal and I don't want to go through it all to get "computer says no"

If you contact the tax office shown on your employers paperwork, pass security checks etc. although they may not give you the figures over the phone I'm sure they will post them out to the address they have on file for you.

nah, they have a legal obligation to supply it - just report it the HMRC as it happened! Your now self employed so why does it matter just now

The legal option has been started, they have 40 days to supply it, if they don't I have to apply to court (£150) then I can claim costs etc but I don't want to go that route. A friend is an employment law solicitor so I'm getting help with that side, but if I can resolve it by new year I wil be happy.

The legal option has been started, they have 40 days to supply it, if they don't I have to apply to court (£150) then I can claim costs etc but I don't want to go that route. I'm expecting them to drag it to court, sadly they can afford it and are still ****** their very expensive solicitors lost the county court case, despite some of the best bullying/scare tactics ive ever seen. I however knew I was right, and that they couldn't prove I wasn't so when it made it to court they were essentially laughed out, and had to pay me and my counter claim costs I also made.

Just a quick one -

If hmrc holds information about you (as in you personally) they will give it you.

Not that i have personal experience, but the data protection act will allow you to retrieve all information held about you, right down to a copy of the cctv tape from the lobby (again, im only told this)

As hmrc are reasonably respectable, im sure it wont come to blows - just ask nicely, and i sure they will sort you out.

I needed a copy of one of my tax returns and I rang HMRC who put a copy in the post for me, turned up a couple of days later.
