a used diesel some are noisy some are in an enclosure but cheap ? not so sure you will find a cheap diesel other then that a bigger petrol genny or mains power as its cheaper then making your own anyway

i've got a chonda 3kw here, that'll run a 3kw electric heater as long as you turn the elements on one at a time, turn them all on together if just stalls, the better gennys will pick the full load up might cough but they'll do it.

no just put some kit in it as an when I get offered some welding work when its to far to travel kip in the van

ahh I see, unfortunately the water heater would be the cheapest of the 2 to replace I would imagine

2kv as far as I know as it heats the water when you turn the dial
it fills with cold via a separate pump then you turn the dial from cold to hot water

Hello Snooper,

there is an initial spike with heater elements as the resistance increases with temperature, the rating is when the element is hot.

I think Wolf Tools (as opposed to Wolf Garden Tools) are now just a badge owned by UK Home Shopping, they import Chinese tools and rebrand them Wolf so I wouldn't put any stock on the name.
I have a Pramac generator which I am really happy with, I don't know if they have anything suitable in your price range:
