I acquired a largish (28kVA I think) 3 phase gennie off one of Bob's mates a while back. As I'm due to finish a big work project shortly I'm turning my focus on trying to make the workshop a bit more productive and ready to use. Part of this is plumbing in the gennie so it can power the mills etc. The idea is to run the gennie into the workshop and have a distribution board there. In addition to this I was planning on taking the gennie up to the house as well for backup power (and also have 3 phase near there if needed).
The gennie to workshop run is about 10m and outside, this would probably have to be armoured cable essentially clipped to the wall. Within the workshop there's 3x3" steel trunking around the ceiling so I'm guessing singles would be best there. Although they'd be running alongside the single phase stuff. Then exiting the workshop at the opposite corner is some underground ducting (about 4" if I recall) but makes a couple of reasonably tight turns (maybe 1-2ft radius). That takes it to near the house (still need to cut the concrete for the final ducilting.
There is already a changeover switch in the outhouse for the whole house (which would back feed down to the workshop in that situation). Note there is no grid 3 phase to the property currently and unlikely to be installed anytime soon.
So the main questions are
1. What size cabling would be recommended (house to workshop is almost but not 100m)?
2. Can something other than armoured be used in the ducting? Inspect armoured is going to be difficult (particularly at 16mm2+)?
3. Can the armouring be used as CPC/Earth for to/from the gennie? I haven't come across many 5 core armoured cables.
And any better suggestions than TLC for reasonably big runs of biggish cables?
