Sometimes its a time and inclination thing.I've spent 28 years fixing other people cars,(23 as a mechanic) I just can't be arsed crawling around on my driveway removing a gearbox stripping and refitting it.It easier and quicker to get someone else to do it now that I can afford to.

vivaro gearbox wouldnt bother opening it tbh just duff another lump of chocolate by the fire idealy swap the mounts for velcro ones if you can :P

Haha yeah they dont seem to be built to last! Will give my local place a go - at £250 with a 12month warranty on the repair rather than box its worth a shot. Will hopefully last long enough for me to get some more use of the van and shift it on. Appreciate the advice and Il let you know how it goes!

Update - got the box out and off to my local gearbox specialist (D Gilmour Engineering) who opened it up and diagnosed it as the synchro ring for 4th gear that was gone. They replaced this along with a couple of bearings / seals that were showing signs of wear and had the box back to me within 24hours! Really can not recommend them enough.

Got the box back in along with a new slave cylinder and another couple of bits and pieces, tried bleeding it the conventional way but couldn't get it right so back pressure bleed it and its working perfectly.

A fairly big job and probably took around 8 hours all in to remove and refit but definitely worth it. Appreciate the advice.
