Ah. Mine is a Renault Master with the 2.5cdti engine.the 1.9 is the pk6, the 2.0 m9r is the pf6. the above data comes from vauxhall.
i know nothing about masters. but once you know which gearbox it is, you will have your answer.Ah. Mine is a Renault Master with the 2.5cdti engine.
No they are not the same, would be one of GMs own. Possibly an M32 ? I know they have had problems too.Are these the same 6 speed boxes Vauxhall fitted to the 2009 Zafira's?
Ours started whining at about 38k and just out of warranty. Vauxhall weren't interested so I had the bearings done by a one man band on Sheerness that showed me the bearings he took out, all blued badly!
Wrong oil from new he said...
The gearbox then worked well until we part ex'ed the unreliable heap.
I can't believe that Vauxhall state a GL5 spec oil for this. These older boxes still have "yellow metal" in them, despite the PF6 having double cone synchronisers on 1/2 and 3/4 gears. The selector forks, gate mechanism, baulk rings on reverse, 5/6 gears are still the brass alloy type, which GL5 oils slowly dissolve when hot.
M32 rings a bell.No they are not the same, would be one of GMs own. Possibly an M32 ? I know they have had problems too.
I'm a strong advocate of using the oil the mfr stated when the vehicle was designed & made.No they are not the same, would be one of GMs own. Possibly an M32 ? I know they have had problems too.
I too know the "pleasure" of rebuilding the Renault PF gearbox. Mine had 3 problems, selector bushing was goosed (and unlike others can only be replaced by splitting the gearcase), 5th/6th synchro spring had snapped preventing 6th gear from working and when inspecting it the 6th gear bearing was worn (Apparently quite common on these). Took every last drop of my 12t press to get the shaft apart to get at the synchro.

It is red so I would agreeI run 2 vans with the 1.9 and use 80 weight oil, silky smooth and gear changes so much better than all this light weight oil which i think is just ATF.
Do that with a UK 2014 jeep and it'll need constant turbo replacements, 5/30 @ 12k miles then 2 years later it's oop's sorry we meant 5/40 and change it @ 6k.I'm a strong advocate of using the oil the mfr stated when the vehicle was designed & made.
So.. I'll be putting in my Mk2 whatever Renault said it should be 20-years-ish ago (whatever that is )

I have not seen that synchro spring broken before. I wonder if it had anything to do with the worn/seized top selector shaft where it goes through the case ?I too know the "pleasure" of rebuilding the Renault PF gearbox. Selector was loose as a goose as they say. 1st to 5th were vague to say the least!. Had my eyes and ears on when using the press and it went with such a bang I still s**t myself scary forces involved!I have not seen that synchro spring broken before. This is also a common source of problems, causing stiff gearchange, and not being quite able to get it beyond the detents, causing it to either grind, or be thrown out of gear.
The much earlier ones had a big rubber cover over it to stop water ingress, but that was deleted for some odd reason, probably cost cutting.
Yes the press, they do go with a bang !
I changed a driveshaft on a FWD mk6 transit and the only gear oil I had was EP80/90 so I filled it and took it for a road test. It would barely change gear, dropped that out got the correct 75 grade synthetic and it was back to normal. Amazing the difference the correct oil made.I run 2 vans with the 1.9 and use 80 weight oil, silky smooth and gear changes so much better than all this light weight oil which i think is just ATF.
