I was just going to ask if it had been tensioned in the correct direction, as VAG modified tensioners so the direction changed, however not all aftermarket suppliers changed their tensioners, and not all instructions reflected the changes. You had to go by the arrows on the tensioner, not what the instructions told you.The tensioner looks like it's been turned in the wrong direction to set the preload and overtightened enough to crack the die cast centre, I saw two like that come in when I worked at an Audi dealer - one was genuine parts, the other was aftermarket.
Not insinuating that's what has happened, just the result looks the same.
