Hello all, Great forum and im learning so much. Im making up some driveway gates ( current wooden ones are sagging and noisey ). I tried weighing them with a bathroom scale and it reads 34KG. Its 50mm box section and 4mm thick. Its 6ft x 5ft. Does this seem right? any calculator to work this out. I also have 6 ft of 20mm box section 2mm thick supporting the corners. Then just 10ft 1'' angle iron to hold wooden panels, ( wood not fitted yet ). I plan to hang it off a block pillar made up of 4'' solids. Any idea if this pillar will take the load? any advice on fitting a castor wheel to take some laod. Screwfix have one cheap enough that holds 54kg. Or any other ideas to spread the weight load? Ive already made up the frame and drilled holes (3 of them) for the eye bolt hinges so I dont want to go changing the gate around now.
