hello, my Clarke 160En is currently set up for gasless, I want to convert it to use gas (CO2 Argon mix) - what will I need (apart from the gas!) and how much is it likely to cost?
You have two options:- Convert it to the small disposable canisters at an approximate cost of £18 including canister & canister regulator (+ wire), or, straight up to a larger refillable cylinder @ £39 for an industrial argoshield regulator & conversion pipe kit (+ cylinder & wire).

There are other implications to consider, does your machine or torch have a gas valve fitted to turn the gas on and off, this will be in the form of a solenoid valve in the machine or a manually activated valve in the torch ? If the machine is set for gasless wire it will no doubt be running torch negative and earth positive, if so can you change the torch earth polarity back to torch positive- earth negative, if not it may be more difficult to convert to a gas shielded wire.
Thats all very true but the Clarke 160EN is a dual purpose machine so he doesn't have to worry about any of that, it's a striaght forward conversion.

If you convert to disposable cannisters it will cost a fortune in gas, you'd be better off buying the Machine Mart regulator and going for a big bottle of your choice.
CO2 may be best if you don't do a lot of welding because Argon gas bottles are on a rental.
