Another question for the collective
I'm currently doing a cosmetic restoration of a Petter A1 engine so have had to remove various covers etc. as part of the prep. I want to make some new gaskets but identifying the material has thrown up lots of different material with various specs I sometimes don't understand.
They seem to be some sort of compressed fibrous material with a shiny finish and measure 0.72 - 0.75mm thick ( after 50+ years of being compressed) and only have to seal against oil splash.
This is what it looks like...
and here's an example of use...
I have been photo documenting the work so at some point will get a restoration thread started in the projects section.
