gas powered portable generator

Ive been clearing out an elderly neighbours workshop as the gent died and the widow would like everything gone, and ive come across a propane powered portable generator !!, it has four two pin sockets ( old style), an Ammeter gauge,and what looks like a lawnmower type engine, it looks like any other genny in the normal cage but ive never seen a gas genny !!,

Anyone know anything about them, where they would be used instead of a petrol genny.

I know we all like pics but i didnt take any, but im going round there next week to carry on and ill get some then

Machine Mart sell (or used to) gas conversions for Honda and Briggs & Stratton engines as used in generators and compressors.

Cheaper to run than petrol, also exhaust gasses safer.

i used one on site in a welfare unit, there a sod to start in the cold weather but much more economical than petrol ones

cheers guys, your comments sort of make sense as the guy was into boating,he had/widow now has a 65ft cruiser so it may of been used on there,the engine looks like a lawnmower engine so it could well be a Briggs and stratton.
If i can get it running i may put it in my camper for holidays and run it off the lpg tank lot safer and less smelly than a petrol genny to cart around

I had a B&D gas powered 3kw unit. Basicly a Briggs & Stratton with a gas conversion. The hassle was moving the bottle around as well as the genset. Worked fine, till the guy I shared w/shop space forgot to check the oil........

A mate of mine makes concrete refinishing equipment.

Used a lot for repairing floors in cold stores, so cannot use Petrol. So he sticks a LPG conversion on the motors. Last time I asked a few years ago admittedly the kits were around 80quid, they seem to run quieter as well
