Gas or no gas

Hi Im on the lookout for a cheap/used mig welder. I've never welded before but would like to make a few repairs to my car namely exhaust.

I'm not planning on doing all the welding. All I'm after is a machine to tack/ spot weld the part together and then I'll take the bulk of the work to a pro.

I'm thinking of going for a clark 100 no gas. With the option of upgrading to gas in the future. What do you think?

For Clarke, you will want an EN model that can be upgraded to gas.

The 135EN is a good machine to start with.

I agree with Shenion.
Decide what you think you need and go a grade above that. You will come to need it.
I was forced to buy above what I 'wanted' and am damn glad that I took the advice.
I was after a 90 amp welder, got the 130amp model because i was told to.
You can always turn it down, but you cant go above it's top whack.
Also having the capacity to use gas without fannying about is a great idea.
For a few quid it is a no brainer.
