i quite like Argonox as a shield....either 1 or 2 oxy....it can be used with mild steel and stainless mig and many gas shielded fcw....the results are good....its probably expensive it was often used for stainless before the argon 2.5 co2.....now the cynic in me thinks it was the gas people who made the change and not the users.....backpurge will probably put me right
I’ve run 2% oxygen on stainless. Works nice. Can’t say I thought it was better or worse that 2.5% CO2. In Argoshield universal which is 12% CO2, the oxygen is 2%.
I’m talking out of my butt, Universal is 2% O2. https://www.boconline.co.uk/en/images/shielding-gas-brochure_tcm410-80125.pdf
Think the O2 mix was superseded by the CO2 mix due to reduced surface oxide formation, personally don’t rate the 2% O2 mix for stainless but think it’s great for mild steel sheet metalwork when your main objective is cosmetics rather than weld strength
