Pub bottle
exactly as it says, its the C02 bottle the pubs use, black about 30" X 6".
the thread on the top is a bitch, however a C02 fire extinguisher nozzle fits and any fire extinguisher service company will help you with a one, or the Weldequip shop on this forum do a regulator check it out in the mig welding supplies

there was a bloke on E bay doing a threaded converter, to fit as well.
Cormeaton fire protection fill ours and they are in Double row in Seaton Dealval if you get stuck,probably about £12 a fill, the bottle must be in current test, or a hydrolic retest lasts 10 years if it passes, cost you another £40.
bottles belong to Distillers co I think or to the pub beer suppliers, a friendly landlord might help you or even lend you one but will need it back when he has the stock take lads in, there was a free one a few weeks ago and if you made a crate to send down to get it sentback, may have been of some use.
if you get desperate I may know of one in the Newcastle area. Dontknow if it will have a current date test stamp or need testing.(probably need testing)

I got two from the nightclub that I do some work for, May I suggest making a list of pubs, get some beer tokens from the machine, buy a pint and ask for the landlord.. broach the subject, if it looks good buy another pint if it goes very wrong then bid fairwell to the publican and cross that pub off your Co2 list and add it to the "never drink in there again" list.......

One thing to make sure of is to get pure CO2, apparently some bottles contain CO2 with Nitrogen, no good for welding. It will tell you on the label.
The 'Pub Expert' explained to me that the gas companies put it in so you cant weld with it. I agreed with the pillock and reminded him that it is also toxic if you do weld with it, and told him to be sure to pass on to his mates*. If he has any.

the mix pub bottles are usually a different colour grey and brown the co2 and nitriogen are used for guinness and that sort of beer and it to do with keeping the head on the beer and a smoother drink

I asked them for emptys and took them to the local gas man, he gave me two full bottles for £20 and kept hold of the emptys.

if the pub is willing to give you an empty they are usually willing to order an extra bottle providing you pay for it.
you can also twist their arm a little for a regular supply.

There's a gas supply outlet near where I live who do a Co2 14lb bottle for 18 quid with no deposit or rental, I'm sure if you scour t'internet you'll find something similar up there.

go to ruffoth autojumble near york they sell full ones for 25 quid or a refill for about 16 there was a full one there on sat with regulator ::50 quidbeen to me local gas supplier and they will only let me have a 6ft bottle, i have to open an account with them, i have to rent the bottle of them for £129.00 per year and then they charge me for removal and delivery £16.00, tried the local pubs & no joy
Are you converting up from disposable canisters, ie.with the small white plastic pipe coming out of the back of the machine?

Argon/CO2 mix is what Zardoz meant (I guess - get a bit lost with all that technical terminology)
