I know of a place in Dunstable that does purged TIG welding of SS, Titanium and Inconel. They make flexible gimbals for the space and aviation applications.

They use a full tanker lorry of argon a month

I thought we weren't going to mention the N2O 'issue' until we'd held the intervention?

Is that full size Parm? the shop lads use about 1.5 tankers per month when busy with specialist work and this drops to around a tanker every 10 weeks on off periods.

Had to think about this, probably a bottle a month of something. We have full size OA through BOC , big and small rent frees in both argon and mig gas and a small portapack set.

Once upon a time JCB had that many leaks they probably lost more gas than most others actually use.....theirs was a plumbed in system fed from giant holding tanks and mixed on site...their opinion was they wouldnt save money repairing the leaks as the reduced usage would increase the cost of the gas......hopefully theyve changed their views.
