Gas bottle heater - using coal ?

Now I've got a 47kg LPG bottle to power the radiant and blown heaters in the garage there is a 19kg surplus so I'm considering using it for a wood / coal burner for the shed / workshop.
As wood isn't something I can easily obtain I reckon coal could be an alternative fuel for me to use.
Are the normal designs for gas bottle stoves also applicable to a coal burner ?

Coal wants air from the bottom.
Wood wants air from the top, pre heated if possible.

Simple answer is to put vents at the top and bottom, with the ability to be closed off. This will also help lengthen the burn if you ever use wood on it.

you need a grate for coal, I put a grate in mine and I have used wood and coal with no problems

Years ago I decided to make a gas bottle burner and got a cast iron grid from builders merchants -

It was a 9" x 9" so will probably get another as only cost a few quid.
