Garage electrics is a bit of a bodge up at the moment, following our loft conversion, so time to get that sorted.
Primarily, it will have a small tinkering bench, bench drill, myford lathe along one side then shelving the other.
No big welding plants going in, (a little jasic 200 tig perhaps later) so will just put one 16a Ceeform in and some standard doubles, also need a couple of power points and lighting in the shed, thats only 4' away from the back of the garage. I've got a couple of spare spaces in the new consumer unit, so thats not an issue.
Lighting, is my main question, its just a standard single garage, block walls/white painted p/b ceiling...so im thinking of putting 2no 4' single LED striplights, 3-4' apart... Or should I just get a 6' Double and whack it in the middle...? I can always add a dedicated task light to the lathe for instance, but would be nice to have decent light over the bench etc.
Any thoughts on this; reccomendations for lights etc...
Shed, already wired so it plugs in to a garage socket... a strip light, couple of double sockets...thats all I need there. Probably easiest just to do that again...but just wire into a switched/fused spur instead of a plug...? Minimal load, small scale tools, wood lathe max 750w...bench grinder, small bandsaw battery charger etc...
The 16a Ceeform, can this wire straight into the consumer unit on a 20a MCB, or do I need a dedicated additional 16a breaker...(its only about 4' from the CU)If i run a 4mm cable through that and on to 4 double sockets as a radial, is that acceptable?
Needs to be right, i'll have a spark test/conncet it up, I just need to run the cables/install fittings etc as hes super busy, with an iminent baby.
As the rest of the house was rewired a few months ago, i'll get a ticket for it, just because.
