Garage no longer...

While I admire the minimalist way of life, I love my shed and garage and now my 20ft shipping container. My shed and garage is a complete tip but I know where everything is, almost. The problem is I'm not getting any younger and wonder what my family will do with my accumulated stuff. All those odd tools and things I've made over the years. Everything I have has a use to me but probably not to our modern way of living folk who don't make or repair things like Mum and Dad did when we were poor. My loft is also chock a block with old toys and general stuff that we haven't touched for decades. I suppose \i could call in a team of declutterers but they wouldn't understand why things are precious to me. I keep saying that I'll make a concious effort to clear out, maybe next year or the year after....................maybe.

with the state of your garages your gonna need a very large bunker to store it all in

lol.
no.1 shed ("the garage") is very much improved: i can actually work in it.
no.2 and no.3 are still "works in progress" but they are getting there.

Been having second thoughts & might just get a narrowboat to start off. Some good buys in the secondhand market!

Then as time goes on I might move onto a widebeam.

Don't mind a project tbf that I can make my own

Narrowboats are a lot easier if you plan to travel around a fair bit.

The thing is I don't really want to travel far tbf, I would rather go away in my van. Might get a small boat to get around a little easier, As moving a narrowboat isn't an easy task

Don't think I can wait 6 months for one to be built. So need to get somewhere to live when I get back from my travels. So secondhand narrowboat seems a good solution

In that case, my advice would be get an old fashioned, traditionally laid out one. Too many people these days are trying to make them like really little houses, with well defined areas for each 'room'. Keeping the inside as one big open space is the way to go, in my opinion. You start dividing it up too much and you end up with a space that feels very small.

Bedroom & bathroom are the only two other rooms I want. The rest will be open plan with some good sized windows for plenty of light

There are some nice boats on eBay, depending on what you want to spend.
