I am planning to line out and insulate my new Garage to make it a bit nicer to work in, and to stop the machine tools rusting. It is a single skin brick walled building.
I did this at my last house, using polystyrene with OSB board over the top, which worked quite well, but always felt damp. I believe this is because the wood basically absorbed moisture through the walls.
So, on the new garage, I am planning to do thicker insulation, using proper insulation board. I also plan to put a moisture barrier up between the insulation and the brickwork, so here's the question. Should this be a breathable membrane or a damp proof material - ie should it be a tyvek type material, or a straight Polythene sheet?
Cheers
