Thanks @bigegg, I’m going to draw that up with the switch terminals to get my head around it when I get a quiet moment, but I know what I need to order now.
Out of curiosity, I’ve never come across single core cables in domestic wiring (not that I’ve seen lots, and most of it old) - is that a normal thing these days?
I’ve been looking at all the 18th edition stuff you can buy now and will swap all the conduit clips for the existing sockets to the steel ones since a new C/U is also going in too. I’m finally getting a proper socket for my welder!
Hopefully this will be slightly less muddy:

Bought two 3200 lumens four foot long battens, rated >Daylight 6500K . The garage will have light coloured painted walls, but not sure if I am going to paint the joists and interior side of the roof yet. I will have some localized lamps on lathe & mill etc.You could spend a wet Sunday afternoon studying the HSE guide (just Google recommended lighting levels) and decide you want a general level of about 200 lux (lumens/m2) plus some localised task light or two for fine bench work to 500 lux.
5x6 = 30m2 x 200 = 6000 lumens
And what did you decide to buy using the 'sounds about right' method??
