That's all very helpful, thanks! I had been thinking of setting the floor level to match the brick barn behind with the idea of knocking through and using the barn for a workshop, but much better to set the level just above the driveway and leaving a small step to the barn. Even then the floor level will be 6 inches higher than the dwarf wall foundations so I'll do those separately so the concrete can't be seen from outside. Could go a bit smaller on the dwarf wall foundation and mix that myself in the mixer.
I think I've figured out the walls and doors and good idea to look at the stuff on the market for the roof construction. There is a risk of mission creep but I have a bit of oak and it wouldn't take much more to make the front of the frame in oak with some pretty pegs. Might be worth making it beefy enough for a slate roof.
