Up & over doors are pants, they just peel them open from the corner so those locks above are pretty useless. Either a mesh or rebar secondary locking gates behind/infont of them, or better still replace the doors

only if your foolish to buy only one of them to stick in the middle then they peel them open from the corner if people bought 2 of them and fasten either side then its way harder

Sorry to hijack but I have a sectional up and over door which has probably 10 - 12 sections. It has a rf promatic motor to lift it up. How secure are these? It's probably about 10 years old.

I suspect the first thing a burglar would do when he sees a door is try the handle, so fit a microswitch to it that sets the alarm off as the 1st line of defence.

yours will be the roller door type there only held by the rollers at each end the new ones are held by a center bar both are unsecure to a degree

You need a sound bomb inside, so loud it is to painful to hang around, also they can not hear if anyone is coming.

I went for a Master Blaster, it works by spinning a propellor like an air raid siren. I put it on a timer so it gives a 30 second burst, otherwise it's too much. It will wake everyone in a 100m radius. When it goes off it's a serious shock.

I tried a few DIY alarms and they all gave problems, false alarms, didn't always sound, crashed.... In the end fitted a proper wired alarm, Scantronic brand, with Bosch PIR, never had a false alarm since. wish I never wasted my money and time on those eBay alarms.

I wired in an SMS module as well. Again tried a few eBay ones first, they work, then you go to test them a month later they've stopped working and need a reboot, so much wasted time diagnosing them! So then I spent £60 on a UK made SMS module, it gets auto tested every week and never fails.

Might as well ask in this thread, has anyone seen an external (weatherproof) keypad or keyfob reader that can be used with a hardwired alarm system?.

I've found lots of access control pads & readers but non of them are designed to be wired into an alarm panel

I'd have to do more research, but I would think they need a comms protocol between panel & keypad?.
